Give an agent room to act without giving it the treasury. Reins is an open-source toolkit that configures a separate allowance account on the XRP Ledger, then helps you prepare, inspect, and submit transactions through it. The owner controls the vault and policy. The agent gets delegated transaction permissions on the allowance account. The ledger checks those permissions independently of what the agent was told in a prompt.
Reins is an alpha for testnet experimentation. It has not had an external security review. The CLI, core, policy compiler, and MCP server are available on npm as version 0.0.2.

Start with a small allowance

Run on testnet

Create fresh accounts, review a plan, apply it, and verify the result.

Understand the boundary

See what the ledger checks, what the toolkit checks, and what is planned.

Three accounts. Separate authority.

The allowance’s spendable balance and funds made reachable through refills determine practical exposure. A budget in YAML is not a universal payment cap. Read the account model before funding an allowance.

Build from an inspectable policy

The CLI turns reins.yaml into a transaction plan. You review that plan before submitting it. Verification reads live ledger state, and revocation stays with the owner. The MCP server lets an agent inspect accounts, prepare transactions, and explain decoded fields. It exposes no tool for changing owner policy, delegation, signer lists, or keys.

Write a policy

Configure accounts, refill Checks, and delegated transaction types.

Connect an agent

Start an MCP client in inspection and preparation mode.
Reins is independent of Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation. The project uses the Apache-2.0 license.
